Okay, this may be a silly question, but...

My car (97 Escort wagon) had a run in with a jumping deer a while back. No major damage but the front of the hood is dinged up and creased slightly. THe hood is not misshapen but I figured that it'd be nice if that slight cosmetic damage wasn't there. I figured that it'd be cheaper to cover it up wioth something like a car bra rather than have it repaired, however I want to get you opinions on whather or not a car bra on a station wagon (albeit a red, sporty station wagon) would look stupid. Any takers on this one?

i hate car bras...

they WILL ruin the paint unless you take them off EVERY time it rains and allow it to dry completely before putting it back on. they dull the underneath paint, im not sure why but they just do... plus red cars fade like crazy, by having a bra on the front, the paint underneath it will not fade and when you take it off in a year, you will have a noticablr color difference. most of the time, they also get pretty ragged from the weather. if you put the bra over the damage, what is most likely going to happen is that the bra will hold in the moisture and allow it to penetrate the micro cracks in the paint that resulted from the bending metal... this means only one thing....rust!!!. plus i cant even imagine what the road salt would do to the paint...

alright, enough... im getting myself all worked up

Actually it sounds like a good idea for my car! With it being 7 years old, and I have some somewhat major dents in the frontend, it could be the perfect solution. The car is barely worth what it would cost to have the damage fixed, and I'm not worried about the paint since it is 7 years old, and most of the damage is on the fiberglas bumper. Thanks for the idea! Now if I can find one for a Dodge Intrepid!
