Viper alarms with AUX to turn on computer

Sorry if this was mentioned before but I tried searching and got no answer.

I'm new to this carputer scene, but I was wondering if it was possible to activate/turn-on my laptop with my Viper 2-Way Alarm Remote.

I manually turn on the laptop everytime I get into the car. This would be great for me because my computer boots up kinda slow and I wanted to make it boot ahead of time before I reach my car.

My alarm model number is Viper 791xv.

Please help me, this would be a great feature.

Would the laptop stay in your car permanetly? Or would it be used for other things as well? Are you worried about voiding the warrenty of the laptop?

this laptop will be permanently stored in my car. Also there is no warranty anymore. Its over 3 years old. Don't really care about this laptop thats why I'm using it as a carputer.

O yeah, i don't mind opening up the laptop. If you got a trick to this, help me out.

Thanks

yea u would need to use a relay, and 30 should go to 12 volt battery

87 to the power for the laptop

your aux should be a low amp negative trigger so connect it to one side of the coil and 12volt battery to the other

Ok I read the manual and have no clue about this sorry.

From what I read my Viper Alarm has two AUX output.. Channel 4 and 5. I will be using channel 4 which would be the violet/black wire. Where exactly do I connect the wire to? A relay? If so, can somebody draw up a quick diagram. It would be much easier if I have a visual concept of what I'm trying to accomplish. A simple MS Paint schematic is good enough for me.

Thanks in advance guys.

I have already read that thread/post. I don't want my laptop to turn on with my ignition. I want my laptop to have remote start with channel 4 of my Viper alarm transmiter.

Sorry if I have confused anyone.

That wire creates a 'ground trigger'. Basically you need to hack into the power switch for your laptop and get it so you can just connect two wires together to turn it on (which is what the power switch does)

Once you have these two wires, the simplest thing to do is get an automotive relay (overkill, yes, but it will work and they're fairly cheap and easy to work with)

Connect up like this:

12v to pin 85
The purple/black wire from the Viper to pin 86
One of the wires you hacked from the power switch to pin 30
The other wire you hacked from the power switch to pin 87

As for 'hacking your laptop' for the power switch, well, you'll need to do some more research if you don't know how to do that.

Jahntassa you are the best!!!! I'll give that a shot tommorow. Thats all I wanted to know and what to wire.

Opening up the computer is not a problem at all. I've done it before when I solder LED's. So this will be easy.

Thanks a whole lot!!!
