Since moon no longer updates mp3car.com...

I think mp3car.com is pretty much dead other then the web board. The example pages are one huge mess (broken links and images, and gooten too large to be usable in one huge page) and all of the other pages haven't been updated in a long time.

I know PHP and HTML fairly well, but I suck at SQL. But I think if I could get a few people to help me out (it would be a community effort, I would help out but I'd need other people that have skills and know HTML, PHP, SQL, graphic design, site layout, etc...) we can throw together a new web site and a new message board.

If I registered mp3cars.org would anyone be willing to help out with designing a new site? I think we could make it 10x as good as mp3car.com and with a team of volunteers to keep it constatly updated we wouldn't have the problems that mp3car.com has.

Anyone willing to help out?

I now ASP, PHP, SQL, HTML, and design graphics. I would be more than willing to help get things back in order, but I feel it should be on MP3Car.com, to keep it centralized. Eventually Moon will respond to our suggestions, or maybe the admins can bring it up to him.

I emailed moon at moon@mp3car.com and moon@comcast.net and no reply from either one. He's also not in the IRC chat.

i offered my services a long time ago, but never received a reply. that 'moon' keeps a low profile....

being a ASP/PHP/My-SQL/MS-SQL/HTML guru by trade, I would be able to help out.... but I feel a smaller dev team would be better - 'too many cooks spoil the broth' as they say.....

also maybe going for a system like php-nuke might be a good idea? since building websites from scratch (as I always do) does take ALOT longer in time/effort.

I like the idea of PHP nuke. We really need to do something though. Moon hasn't responded to emails, he's not on IRC anymore, and mp3car.com needs some serious updating. So if I register mp3cars.org and setup PHP nuke, whats the chance that atleast most of the people from the forums here would start using the forums on mp3cars.org?

I would use phpbb for the web board (looks very similar to vb and has a lot of the same functionality.

Let's think about this from the standpoint of a person just showing up on the scene. He's most likely going to see mp3car.com and mp3car.org and assume they are the same or just not know what's going on. Why not offer to take over on the site? Look in mp3car's whois listing and give him a call if necessary.

I just think it'll cause more harm than good to have two seperate, but identical sites.

*Edit* Or fax, if necessary. Fax = 410-825-3240 Did you try moon@home.com?

I could host mp3car if Moon doesn't want to host it anymore - I run my own ISP and bandwidth is no problem.

Lemme know if interested.

Moon@home.com doesnt exist anymore, as @Home went bankrupt. It might be @ any of the cable isp's now. I think that if moon can't be reached, a second portal until he does respond wouldn't be a bad thing. A second BB, however, I think would be a bad idea, splitting up the already small community. Just have mp3cars.org the "spiritual sister site to mp3car.com" or some such *****, and just point those that find that portal at this forum. And for the moment, I'm also my own host, and I have mp3cars.net (which points at my site ), but since I just moved the nameservers back to my actual hosting machine, I could probably host it, atleast to start out with.

Can anyone get a full whois query on this site? I just get the nameservers and not the contact info.
