Mp3 Headache!
I have been having a hell of a time getting music to play back correctly on my carpc for about a week now. It has started the bad habbit of skipping. Every 45 seconds or so, the music pops or skips for a couple of seconds. I have absolutly no idea why it JUST started doing it though. If it helps, here are my specs:
2000 VW TDi Jetta
Street Deck
Lilliput 7" 619GL-70NP
M2-ATX 160W
D-Link Wireless-G PCI card.
DFI K8M800 Micro ATX
Mobile Athlon 64 3000+
Mushkin DDR 400 512MB
Zalman 92mm heatsink
AZIO Corp USB 2.0 Bluetooth Adaptor
HITACHI Travelstar 7200RPM 80GB SATA150 Notebook Drive suspended in drive cage by zip ties
COMTOP USB repeater cable
ENERMAX 4 port usb hub
Please, if you all could give me some ideas, it would be amazing.

Have you tried using Windows Media Player instead of Street Deck? Give it a try to see if it is a SD issue or maybe hardware/mp3 issue.

Not yet, but I'll go do that now.

Alright. The problem only exists in streetdeck, and only after I resume from hibernation. It is really about to make me rip this thing out of my car though. I am so tempted to just wipe the drive and start over with Road Runner, or Mobile Impact. I am so ****ed about this $200 mistake.

Ok, now, next step is to isolate some things inside of SD. Can you pull up Windows Task Manager (Alt + Ctrl + Del in Win XP) and see what your CPU usage is and the memory usage?
It sounds to me like SD is looking for something, like changes or something which is either using all of the CPU or locking the application up momentairly.
I myself use Windows Media Center on my carPC and I've tested is using the new Windows Vista Ultimate (with Media Center feature) and I may create some MCE plugins for the HQCT Tuner and one for iGuidance so I can use the MCE interface 100%.
Don't get me wrong, I tried SD and liked some of the features but there is so much crap I don't need it is just over bloated for me.

I'll check the memory usage after class today. Thank you, by the way.

Alright, It looks like StreetDeck is the pain in my ***. It is using 145mb of system memory, and is almost constantly at 100% cpu utilization. But, I noticed something else... My Mobile Athlon is only utilizing about 1/3 of its power. For some reason it's clock is stuck at 700 mhz (According to system info). do you think this could be a bios problem. If it is, why is it that the skipping just started a week ago, after having this in my car for about a month.

Ok, thats what I thought the problem may be.
With the modile CPU I'm not sure what the specs of your CPU are but there are chips that "Underclock" themself when not in use and then there are chips that are static. I use a Turion 64 chip and your chip will differ from mine.
My best guess is that either some how the CPU clock speed is wrong in the BIOS (maybe a Soft Menu change or some how the bios reset itself?) or your Front Side Bus settings are wrong.
Does Windows detect the correct processor name (such as AMD Mobile Athlon 2600+ or similar)? Or does it show are something else? Right click on my computer and go to properties, the CPU info is on the bottom of the general tab.

Windows detects it as a Mobile Athlon 64 3000+, but only shows its clock at 699mhz. I'm going to check the bios, and run sisoft to see if everything looks right.

I think in the power options to can disable the "auto underclock" feature, which may be part of the problem.

For anyone else that might have been having this problem, I found the solution. It was in part what Splash-X suggested, but it was also that Cool n' Quiet was disabled in the bios. This kept the Processor downthrottled to 800MHz, which streetdeck does not really like. It runs great now, but a new problem arose. Now my computer is randomly shutting down... I might just give up on this troublesome M2-ATX and get an OPUS.

Shutting down or restarting?
Shutdowns could be caused by the CPU temp reaching the thermal shutdown temp of 90C. Find a CPU Temp monitor and run it while running SD and see how high your temp gets.
Also, there should be some advanced setting for "Alarm" for the temp, you could try setting the alarm for roughly 10C lower than the cut off point to get a warning.

It's not that. I am running a temperature monitor, it is staying below 38oC, the shutdown temperature is 90o. It is fully restarting though. It didn't start until I put it back on the bench to fix the previously mentioned problem. I am really just about to give up on this damn powersupply, it has been nothing but a pain in my ***.
