Spend 10 whole hours today, installing and its still not quite done

Its a 95 neon. I will definately post pics when its done, but I dont wanna get the bad critisizm of a WIP, because it looks messy right now and I always seem to come out with a clean install in the end.

But today I had all sorts of problems. I have 2 component sets up front (well 2 speakers are front and the other two are "surround side" but they are right beside me in the door aswell, so they are fronts to me . SO I Had to run 4 different sets of 12awg to the front. Build a false floor out of 1/8" hardwood with 2 supports in middle (carputer in spare tire well) and manage to fix a sub box that was JUST too big to fit in the car (it was made to size in my honda I pulled it out of, it looked damn close so I didnt build a new one, though it would fit. But nope. It would not fit from the trunk side, would not fit from the seats back. We thought, ok its because the amp is mounted on the top and is causing is clearance issues.

nope

took the amp off the wiring out of the way, still did not fit. It was like 1/4" too big, im not kidding. We tried making it fit by pushing and trying all sorts of wierd angles. Stupid mistake for not just building a new box.but we did get it in.

We took out the WHOLE rear seats, amp off again, and we somehow managed to get it in there. It actually wouldntve fit, we jammed it in there, and manged to turn it somehow, I do not know exactly, but it worked. Its on top of the false floor which is mounted to the frame of the car (well, body I guess) and the box is mounted to that. Then we put the amps back on top with a ratchet + robertson bit, and it just barely fit too. There is no way in hell that 1) anyone could steal my computer hidden out the false floor 2) take the sub out of the trunk or 3) have enough patience to even steal the whole car and try to do it in a less "heated" place. I honestly do not think I have to worry about that again, the thief would need to bring all sorts of tools to get everything out. Though I suppose if they wanted the single 12" type R they only need to take the sub OUT of the box, but to get anything else (expensive amps) would require lots of time to work.

That and the wire running took most of the day, I had to wire and hide 4 crossovers up front aswell. Wired EVERYTHING else in too, m2atx+the 4 amps + all the fancy fuse holder stuff too aswell as the cap and blue top that are in the trunk (yes blue top, a marine battery..... FTW)

And I also spent about an hours worth with the dremel getting the 809GL to fit nicely in the stock place. So its all "cut to size" I just have the fiberglassing work to do for it. I think I have a total of 6 hours worth of work to do if im efficient left over and shes all done. Most of which is the fiberglass work I have yet to do.

Sorry for the long read, it was kind of a pointless thread yes, but if your bored I told you how my day went cheers

Heh, I had some of the same problems that you did, moving from my truck to my civic lol

My box barely fits in my car, and with it in there, i cant fit my amp rack that me and my dad made about three seconds before trying to put the box in.

Then we re-made the amp rack, and the box fit, and the trunk wouldnt close.
