Wow man, thanks a TON, that's pretty much exactly what I need down to the exact amperage.

So I can just plug my 12v lines in on one side, and add my AC adapter's plug in on the 5v output and plug that into my hub and be good to go? That's actually cheaper than what Best Buy wants for their cell chargers and only like $5 more than Radio Shack wants, I'm definitely ordering one now.

I found a very simple solution. I picked up this Targus USB hub
http://www.targus.com/us/product_det...p?sku=PAUH217U
from my local Office Depot for about $10, and discovered that the car charger for my LG VI-5225 phone uses the exact same barrel plug and voltage. Since I already have a 3 socket cigarette light setup spliced into my tank circuit, this was truly a plug and play solution.

I haven't been able to find a link for my specific charger, but it's the one which came with my phone and has the "sprint" logo light up when plugged in.

simple solution in connection but the phone charger does NOT put out enough power to supply 500ma to every device plugged into the usb hub. you're giving it more juice yes. but its still underpowered.

It's not about having the same barrel plug, its about pushing enough current.

My cell charger outputs 5v 1A to my USB hub, which passes the hub requirements. I think that's sufficient.

It's not like I'm trying to power a hair dryer through my USB hub...

Do most of these hubs come with the a/c adapter? I'm looking online, and most of the product specs are vague.

Ok I tried connecting my Belkin 4 port hubs directly to my OPUS and it resulted in them catching fire. Can I simply buy the Targus and modify the USB cable that supplies the extra power and connect it directly to the PSU...... Or can I get a USB connector to come off of the 5v rail and that way i dont have to modify the Targus's cabling....? Esentially adding USB ports that do nothing but supply power.... no data. Also what are the connectors, which one is positive, and which is ground..... Doing it this way with no adapter inbetween will not result in another fire I hope!!!!!!!!!!

the carnetix 5v add-on PSU is what powers mine. You can use either that or the OPUS POL

OPUS POL? Im sure its right infront of my face, but i am to frustrated to think clearly.... Its seems that with this PC build I am having so many issues..... I thought buying the OPUS would be the end of all the problems, but looks like it isnt.... thankfully i am almost done when it comes to building... only have to build my XM adapter and thats it....

The way i connected the Belkin 4 Port USB Hubs is by using the 5v molex connector. Is that what you mean by POL?

PS: here is the hub I bought, it too comes with the y-cable. http://www.targus.com/us/product_det...sp?sku=ACH63US

here's the carnetix unit
http://store.mp3car.com/Carnetix_CNX..._p/pwr-016.htm

and the opus pol
http://store.mp3car.com/Vehicle_Poin..._p/pwr-022.htm

i have both items and both work as intended.. the opus cost a little more money but with that u get more amps and a switchable point of regulation between 5v, 7.5v, 9v, or 12v. Either way you cant go wrong

So I have to buy this on top of the 228.00 dollars I spent on the OPUS 320 Its just never ending........ I am so to the point that i want to just get hammer and go ballistic. I thought it would be as easy as just connecting the USB to the 5v rail
