O.K. So lets not be sarcastic - since there are so many threads so closely related let's pick one and revive a thread, so the next person searching doesn't have to read all thru this one, too, to not find anything new.

Maybe, but I doubt it.
He was assuming I didnt read or search for the answer to a question.
Fact is i did search, and came across ALL those threads too. He was so quick to assume im a fool.
When in fact, the point of the post wast to get a definitive answer to the question. it was to determine the most popular/cheapest/least popular.most expensive and so on.
If he wanted to "help" he coulda just answered the question.
Furthermore! I do have some question. I posted them in the correct spot/thread for that type of question and they are being ignored. If only he was so quick to actually help instead of flaming on some1.
I dont see the point in reviving a thread started in 2004. with technology changes happening monthly if not faster.
In fact most the threads that you find while using the search feature are very old. sure there may be a few newer post at the end where some1 tried to revive it, but mostly it full of useless dated obsolete data.
just close the thread. sorry i asked.....

Seriously, what is up with you guys? He basically asked what some of the current users of the site were using for internet access in their cars. It looks like he did a search and was maybe just looking for some new opinions with this post. Im sure anyone whos willing to answer him will. Why is the number one answer here "use the search function"?

Simple.
The information is already here. What's the point of having lots and lots of threads about the same exact thing?
Having lots and lots of threads about the same thing would make it that much more difficult for new members to locate the information they seek. It's far more productive to have one thread to consolidate it all.
Ayone who's grumbled about finding information on these forums understands exactly what I'm talking about. There's already lots and lots of crap to weed through to find information. The main cause of that is people thinking that it's perfectly fine to start a new thread instead of contributing to an existing thread.

Well, that seems a little revisionist. Looking at your original post and thread title, you asked people to post their internet mobile solution without saying you wanted to catalog the cheapest/easiest/least popular solution.
It would have been good to start this topic in the FAQ Emporium, since there isn't a FAQ on mobile internet solutions. It would be a good add. Why don't you restart this thread in there with a title like: "FAQ: Everything you need to know to get mobile internet in your car"
An additional entry in the Wiki would also be very helpful. I know I could use a FAQ like that. I'm totally lost when it comes to wireless mobile. I'd love to put tracking in my car but I just can't come up with the time to research how to do it cheaply and easily.

I never assume someone's a fool... I prefer to let them prove it themselves. But I'm still trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. A more specific answer to your question would have been this post or even more "difinitive" would be this one, but I wanted to reference as many different options as possible for you.
I like Bugbytes idea for creating something for the FAQ Emporium and would be more than willing to assist you in that endeaver. The WiKi, on the other hand, may need a couple entries (Wireless Internet features/uses) added but really doesn't fit with the current discussion.
If you had asked "What has changed since the most recent posts in this area?" : you will find that excluding the occasional first-time subscriber discount most cell service plans have been pretty constant for the last 9-12 months -- nothing much new. There have been a few hardware introductions, but these have been more aimed toward mobile hotspots (sure there are always newer phones and cards, but the technology inside hasn't changed).
If you had asked for "...the most popular/cheapest/least popular.most expensive and so on." I would have suggested and participated in a poll. The closest poll currently compares WiFi to cellular.
I have searched for your posts that "haven't" been answered, and unfortunately can't help you there, although, HDTech has shown he's willing to try. But you might want to wait at least a week (vice 2 days) before you say they are being ignored. Hell, I been here a while and my questions go unaswered, too, sometimes. Find someone doing exactly what you want and send him a PM.
I guess DP and I are old school when it comes to posting new threads. Unless its something totally unique and bleeding edge, there's always another post to add to as you have done in the past. Also the next person that comes along can actually see the history behind the subject (ala, those who do not learn from the past...).
Lastly, and related to being "Old School," If I had FLAMED you, you'd know it and so would half the forum. I offered you an olive branch in my second post and you ****ed on it. You have refined the request, I have refined the answer. I offer you another. Your move.
