Got some pics of my NEW box

Dropped the ghetto minitower AT case and built my own out a sheet of ABS plastic.

Dimensions: 10" x 10" x 5"
Material: 1/8" ABS plastic (textured)
Bonded with: 0.75" brackets at each corner and screws
Airflow: Three 80mm fans with metal gutterguard used as a grill, 2 blowing in and 1 out (there are gaps on the corners where air can escape from)
PSU: Arise 865 (mounted internally)
Harddrive: Old 2gb
Connections:
- Diamond MX400 soundcard with line out, mic, speaker, line out, and SPDIF
- Linksys 10baseT/10base2 lan card
- ATI All in Wonder 128 AGP (video in, video out, TV tuner)
- 2 serial ports
- 2 USB ports
- PS2 and Parallel port
- 1 female molex for input power (so I can easily use an old AT psu at home to power it and just use the car's 12-14v)
- 4 male molex for output power to DVD, CDROM changer, GPS, and LCD
- 2 IDE connectors for DVD and CDROM changer
- AT keyboard (wireless)

I love the look of that textured ABS.
Works really well.

It doesn't actually showup, until you see the hi-res closeups.

Very cool DIY box.

where did you get the abs plastic from? i was planning on building a smoked plexi case, but this is now another option. looks great! why a 2 gig hd though. you could do SO much more with a 10 or 20gig?

Hey.. I got the ABS plastic from a local dealer.. I have some left over I can sell you.. I think they're cut up into 2' x 4' pieces x 1/8" ($25 + shipping?). I think selectproducts.com sells them also, but they're way expensive..

Well, for MP3s I use the DVD and CDROM changer. I do have an extra 7gig HD laying around, but I was scared that the vibrations would damage it so I decided against putting it in. Plus, I don't mind the CDs.. I burn all my MP3s to CD anyway..

If you are just going to use it to play burned mp3cds you may as well buy an mp3player..

I have one.. it works great... but I don't like being so limited, besides I had a gps and don't like having to have my laptop open in my passenger seat (especially if a passenger is there!)

HAha just because a car computer uses CDs to play mp3s doesn't mean its limited to jsut playing mp3s.. i have dvd, gps, tv, all the emu's, etc...
