Very very nice. I like it, I think that screen blends really well with the interior color. I'm prefer stealth in any install so I would have probably used something else besides plexi or acrylic to cover the panel where the pc is, so the fan holes were all you could see, but other than that I really like it a lot. But it still looks good and is cool to show with it covered like that. You did a really good job, enjoy it!

I like it.
Great work. Nice boot video. Do you use an inverter or what?
Like the size, but with the people that are in my area it doesn't seem plausable to have a plexi cover.
In the past 3 weeks, the amount of auto breakins have increased alot. (10 last year for this time frame to 63)
I know that not all breakins are reported but this is rediculus.

i use the pcpower and cooling 12V supply...it rocks... had a problem with it and they helped me fix it asap. it takes the southern heat VERY well.
the plexi was done with a dremel... that flexible wand attatchment is king in that area...so is 1/8" plexi.. that 1/4" stuff is way too hard to work with, but necessary on a case like that.
im thinking about gps but i think my 5.6" composite lcd is gonna keep me from doing so...what do you guys recommend?

Nice install, but you have the same problem that i do, that the lcd is waaaay down on the floor (ie long glances away from the road). Any plans for a character LCD?

I have a 5.6" screen and I've battle tested my GPS works great... Can't really read the street names from that far away.. but you can follow the line just fine
I even took detours from the path it suggested and zoomed out a bit to see where the roads were leading.
My screen is much higher up than yours right now though. I don't know.. I think it would be ok as long as you don't expect too much out of it.. don't epect to be able to read the directions or what ever.

Looks Great but why are you using a USB sound card and a scan converter when it looks like you have onboard audio & tv out?

Just one thing.. haven't people had their systems stolen that weren't even visable from outside teh car, and here you are with a clear car panel to you CAN see it. . (Be funning if it did get stolen, well, not funny, but ironic.. lol)

I don't know if he actually built it himself, but you can pick up 6" atx extensions at computer-type places.

cool! i see that you have your LCD in the same spot as i do in my Explorer. I also like the case, but the location may be better if you would have used smoked plexi (kind of defeats the purpose of a clear case though) to "hide" the case instead of clear.
also, how did you get that rear net/cubby thing off to put the case in there?

the plexi is fine... my explorer comes standard with mirror tint on the back window...you cant see anything during the day, let alone the night. ive had a very expensive stereo in there for about 2 years now too...no problems.
mp3kid...yeah that would be funny ?? **** you
im using a scan converter because the fv24 would only output b&w to that lcd for some reason...it does color to normal tvs though. usb soundcard because the card is 1 foot from the head unit thus minimizing noise and expensive analog cables. also the usb soundcard is alot better than the crappy onboard sound.

Ha Ha... Even thought MP3KiD is actually starting to come up with semi logical thoughts of his own, his true colors still manage to show thru every now and then!
That is too bad you couldnt get a color output to your screen, I would think the main reason an FV24/25 motherboard is used is because its small and it has everything onboard...
Good luck,
Mike

OMG!!! Man, MP3, why would you even say somthing like that man!?! That's the LAST thing ANY of us want. Just ask OrangeWhip. His stuffs been stolen like what, 3 times? Man, you really need to think before you post stuff like that.
Alives -
I like your install man. I have a sub where you put your puter. I built this really wicked custom console to replace the stock one. I've got no use for it now though, since I'm moving the car puter.
