Commercial unit.. everything but GPS

For any of you good for nothing pansies that want to give up you might want to take a look at this unit for sale on ebay. for $848 you can have am/fm/mp3/dvd with a motorized 7" wide display. Not bad.

mp3car system is currently FUBAR and finances do not allow for a correction of that situation

looks to me like the system they are pedling requires you to carry around cd's with mp3s written to them...

i see some problems with this...

my car cd deck will play cds that are scratched... my computer cd rom pukes when it is supposed to play cd's with tiny scratches on them.

a cd only holds 700 megs... i had more than 700 megs of music before i even started to consider thinking about researching this project. im well above 700 megs now... thats a lot of cds to keep in the car... why not just have a bunch of music cds?

it looks ugly.... and i bet it cant be upgraded.

there is no way im going to spend that much money on ebay without ever seeing the thing im buying...

i bet this thing has to be wired in accordance with local laws... i.e. it cant be on when the vehicle is in motion... since it is a legit company providing the equipment, they have to abide by laws. when you DIY... you can "massage" the rules to fit your needs.
