Simple questions, molex and usb hub

When people say Molex, do they mean the power connector that goes on to the motherboard from the PSU like M2-ATX?

I'm getting ready to buy/install a USB hub. From what I gather I need to find one thats 5v , cut the end (transformer) off the end of the power cord and wire it to 5v in the car. I could get the 5v by taping into the wires on the power plug that goes into the motherboard.

Am i close?

usually it refers to a 4-pin HDD power connector.

Leave the motherboard power connector alone, tap power from the "molex" connector that would plug in (give power) to a cd-rom drive or the one that would connect to a floppy disk drive. You are probably not going to use a floppy drive so just chop-off the connector and join the wire for your hub to the red and black wires.
