Thumbs up Usa the ALpine Sirius Optical Adapter with other Sirius boxes?

It's my understanding that all the Directed Sirius boxes are the same on the top, and the bottom half is the only thing that differentiates these boxes (the part that gets replaced by the optical adapter).

Does anybody have any experience with this? I have access to a few boxes for free, but the Alpine is not one of them. I've contacted a buddy at Directed to see what he can find out. If I find out, I"ll post here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Please pay more attention to where you are posting.

Thread moved from MP3Car.com store products forum to the general mp3car discussions.

just out of curiosity, what was wrong with posting this in the store forum?

i bought the adapter from mp3 car and the question was about the adapter.

however, as an update i'd like to report that it does work Sirius boxes other than Alpine's. I'm currently using Kenwood. However, the holes for the plugs no longer line up. (doesn't matter for my install)

If you'd search the forums, then you'd find the answer.

Yes, Mitch's Sirius adapter board will work with the SIR-xxx1 line of Sirius boxes, but the SIR-ALP1 is recommended.
I believe other users have tested the board with a JVC unit and a Kenwood unit.

I did use the search, however it turns up a LOT of results that really weren't relative and I really didn't want to search and read thread after thread after thread.

I suggest narrowing down your search results or slogging through.
It's what the rest of us do.
