how much can I obstruct my copilot gps receiver?

I was thinking, since the case for the copilot gps is plastic, and my dash is plastic, how bout just stickin the thing under the dash, instead of on top of the dash?
I get really good signal on the top of the dash.
Anyone think 1/8" of abs dash would make the signal worse?

It should be no problem, long as there's no metal bracket over the reciever. I put mine right beneath the dash and works just fine. I wedged it between the a/c duck and the dash.

just wondering...did any of you guys mount their receiver under dash yet. i'm at the point where i am mounting it so a little advice would help out. my dash is plastic. i want to mount it under where the factory speaker should go.

and does it matter if it isn't facing frontwards?
