Different voices for iGuidance?

Just curious.

Does anyone have any alternative voices for iGuidance? Someone here hosted a different voice pack for Freedrive, but I was wondering if anyone found different voices for iGuidance. Thanks.

iguidance 4.. due sometime in april SHOULD support this.. they say it will.. but we'll see

I don't recall hearing about iG 4 supporting different voices. iG 4 will have an optional TTS (Text-To-Speech) for pronouncing street names, though. I think the voice options will be: 1. WAV (as in the current version, no street names announced), and 2. WAV + TTS (WAV will say a half of the sentence, and TTS will pronounce the street name), and I think there may be option number 3. TTS (the whole sentence in TTS). But don't take my word for it. I'm only going by what I recall reading about the all-in-one unit by Netropa, which is based on the same software.

Well if it is TTS, then the new voices thing is really easy to do.

When is this coming out! I want!!!!

The ETA as of a week ago was "around 6/8/07 - 6/15/07". In the past the ETA's for new iGuidance versions were always changed a few times, so don't rely on the above estimated dates :-)

yea if its TTS we should just be able to change the voice in windows. Not that the voices in windows are any better than the the iG chick though.

When would the software speak out the name of the street? Would it be like "make a left turn to centre street" or something like that? I think that would be helpful instead of to just blindly turning left when the software tells you to.

Also...I hope they have a british female voice, like in iGuidance 3.0. She sounds much better than Microsoft Sam.

Even the default TTS settings has a british female.

But the best I have seen is from AT&T. Natural Voices I believe.

I'm fairly certain that 0l33l's navivoice will generate new iguidance voices from your exsisting TTS voices. So if you can get your hands on AT&T natural voices (coughpiracycough) then you could probably get new voices for IG.

Haha...if the download sites (coughpiracycough) actually had AT&T Natural Voices, I wouldnt be posting here. Trust me, Ive checked bittorrent and every download site on my favorites list.

I can make my own iGuidance voices since I have a program to convert text to mp3, but I just need a good sounding voice (which I cant find). The default v3.0 female actually doesnt sound that bad, I just wanted to hear other alternatives.

I just got done making a new set of speech commands for ig3 that uses a voice similar to at&t's audrey, uk english voice. Its not perfect, and some stuff sounds "robotic" but it is an alternative for now. anyone interested shoot me a pm with your email address and ill send you a folder with all the commands. just make a copy of your original snds folder in inav, and then copy these over everything in the original.

Also, I came across this site and I thought I would share for anyone interested:

You can create a .wav of any sentence you want, using the AT&T Natural voices. So you can pick what voice you like the best, and manually rebuild your iguidance sounds that way.

UPDATE: that site above is useful to get text > mp3, but dont waste your time trying to make a new set of voices like I did. The voices just dont sound natural...too many pauses between each words. Just stick to the default until iGuidance v4 comes out.

so I was playing with the idea of using Voice and TTS hopefully with audrey voice by ATT. I have both Iguidance 4 and Audrey TTS engine installed. Problem is, i cant get IG4 to use ATT Audrey by setting Audry as default in windows.

I must be missing a setting somewhere.....

in short, i want to use Wav files using audrey voice, AND also use audrey voice in TTS engine for street names and not the default by IG4.

Any ideas?
