The required internet verification to set the software up feature would be a little annoying for those of us who don't have internet availability in the car. That little snag would keep me from buying this.

I just found somewhere else that you will be able to phone in the activation code when no internet is available. So that's nice.

So,
New map data (which should be an updatable file for registered users IMO), More POI (needed for a loooonnnggg time), and text to speech (been around for a long time already).
No map loader. Big whoop. Most people have larde HD's these days and just laod the whole thing once anyways. Plus it's now so big without being able to select maps, PPC's need hardware upgrades or augmentation.
Where's the improved animation, better route planning, display option for whole route, etc, etc..................???????
Very disappointing.
Not sure if it's worth the price of upgrade.
Now we need someone to find a way to import the new map data and poi's into the old program.......since that's pretty much all the did anyways.
As I said, IMO all they're doing is making paid users pay again for something that should be a free update (ie, map data and poi's)
Poor form old chaps, poor form...................
Hey Marvin, have you found out if the new prog will accept a theme.ini (chtheme?) yet? If they took that out, I'm definately NOT upgrading................
Cheers
BJ

I'm sorry, I've been trying to follow on all the news of IG4, but didn't see anything about the theme.ini. Is it confirmed there or confirmed taken out?

Until they add the functionality of adding custom POI's, I'll be sticking with V3

The theme.ini works. And as far as new map data and POI's go, they are licensed from Navteq. That costs money. Actually now it costs the developer more money because iGuidance 4 has about 5 times more POI's than earlier versions, yet the price to the consumer has not been increased.

you can guarantee we'll make sure of that. Though i'm all but positive they've made it harder to hack up.

no arguments here. The big update, it seems, is the improved poi's. Why not release that as an available upgrade for a smaller fee or let us input our own.
Weak.

I want my 5hz updating. Not upgrading until they get that option developed.

Not necessarily. The only change I'm aware of is that there no longer is the annoying Safety Warning screen :-)

We already kill that Safety warning long time ago.
How about keyboard input like V2?
Well, let see what other saying after using it as I'm not sure it worth the money to upgrade. Increase POI is great, but hearing 2 completely different voice guidance is really really really STUPID. Can we disable TTS or pre-recorded voice? I can live with either one but NOT BOTH.
