Are USB GPS"mouse" receivers good?

Hi,
on ebay I saw multiple cheap GPS receivers called GPS mouse.
What do I have to pay attention for when i wanna buy one ?
(technical characteristics etc)
Are those receivers working good in general and what happens when they are placed behind (tinted) glass ?
What's about compatibility with Software? Are there any standarts to pay attention on when buying ?

My favorite would be a real stand alone GPS but they are too expensive for me.

Many thanks for answers

Regards Felix

GPS mouse returned 0 results on eBay. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Wow, that's actually pretty nice. I need usb because my touchscreen takes up my only serial port.

Searching for "USB GPS" reveals about 50 of these.

I'we tried one.. the driver installation was kinda tricky... i couldnt have any other USB devices connected when I connected the USB GPS.. the mouse would act all funny

anyway... the one I got.. was faulty.. so I never got to actually test the reciever part )

USB GPS worked for me im just waiting for new one from GPS WAREHOUSE in Great Britain ... it cost'd me 89£ (with Reciver and Route 66 Europe Map)

If it is the Holux GM-200-USB receiver, then it works. You need to build the pl2303 USB-Serial driver into the Linux kernel, or as a module. If you persist that it be a USB GPS receiver, the best idea is to make sure that it uses the pl2303 for the USB => Serial conversion. The Holux GM-200-USB is what I am using with GPSDrive. Good Luck!

Sorry... I bought mine @ deluo.com. So far the thing works beautifully. I don't have a complaint as of yet.
