GPS 20MPH off?
So I just got my carputer setup and everything working relatively good...
My GPS seems to be 20MPH or so off. I am going 40 it says 60, if i accelerate quickly it spikes up to like 30-40mph off.
What should the BAUD rate be set at if this could affect it?

I have heard that 9600 is the only setting to use.

Sounds like it's running at KPH rather than MPH

I thought the baud rate was supposed to be 4800. Suggest you refer to any paperwork that came with the GPS

I'm not in front of a PC w/iGuidance, but if I recall correctly it only takes three mouse-clicks to switch from kilometers to miles.
P.S. iGuidance works fine with various baud rates, no problem there.
Do not drive 40 km/h in a 40 MPH zone!

So I went out and tested it at lunch. It was a no go, everything was set at MPH. I was going around 8-9mph through a parking lot and it had me anywhere from 12-20mph. My car has a digital read out of the MPH and I never went over 10!

Open the GPS window to see if you are getting good enough signals. How many satellites are you connected to? What is the signal strength in dB?
Or perhaps there is some interference. Where is the GPS receiver located? Could you place it on the roof of your car at least for a few minutes, for testing purposes?

I have been getting 9-10 sat connections on average. The GPS receiver is located INSIDE the cover over my rear strut bar in my 350z.
I have it mounted on that bar inside the cover.

Try other GPS speed software such as RoadRunner in the software forum or Compass by Curiosity (search the forum for it).

Yeah, 9 to 10 satellites is plenty. Try some other software for testing purposes, just as MatrixPC suggests.
Does everything else appear okay with iGuidance? Does it show you your correct location on the map? Does the arrow move where ever you move?

That's what I have been using for it is Roadrunner using DigitalFX skin GPS STATs.

Yes, everything else appears fine, arrow moves. Map shows me where I am. I havent actually checked my speed in iguideance. I have just used the gps speed stats in RR.

I am 110% sure that the speed is in kmh. There is some setting in RR.ini isn't setup correctly. locale is the setting I think (can't remember off hand).

Alright tomorrow I will check the ini then. I just know that in the skin I use (digitalFX) I selected MPH and then back to kmh then back to mph and still the same thing. But I do remember reading something about a issue in the ini.
I also remember reading about a guy with the same type of issue I am having w/ the GPS 'lagging'
