Gps for Asus EEE laptop
I'm looking for a gps for the Asus EEE Laptop that I'm going to get when it comes out. It runs a version of Xandros, so, I need a linux compatable gps.
Here is exactly what I want to do:
Put the antenna on the car, and plug it in when I have the laptop in the car, using the laptop as the gps(going to save a ton of money).
Thanks guys.

Would it not be cheaper? Opensource gps software+antenna, and a $200 laptop, can't get much cheaper than that...

Yeah sure open source is great, and there is an open source gps app out there (its not completely stable and has very basic functionality) I just can't remember the name off the top of my head. Which is great. But good luck finding any great maps for POIs for it
Unfortunately as far as I am aware there is no great GPS application out there for linux.

Cheap is not always good :-) If some software is not to your liking in linux, you have less choices in software than you do for windows when it comes to carpc's.

Well, do any of you guys know if I could use something like wine to get the xp programs working in linux? I really won't have room on the laptop to dual boot xp, it is only 4 to 16 gigs of space...

Wine works on the custom xandros load on the eee pc. I can't wait to receive mine next week, but i'm loading tinyxp+streetdeck on it.
Problem is, wine will let you run many of the gps frontends, but the driver support still has to be there for linux. Good luck.
