I Am Trying To Connect A Garmin Gvn 52 Which Has A Rca Video And Audio Output To A Mediaview Rearview Lcd Mirror Which Has A 20 Pin Molex Male Rgb Input. The Damn Rearview Mirro Is From China So Tech Help Is A Deadend. Trying To Find Out If Garmin Has A Rgb Adaptor. Doesn't Look Good. Pioneer Uses A 20 Pin Rgb Cable For Their Navigation But I'm Not Sure If It Will Plug And Play With The Mirror. Mediaview Advertizes The Mirror As Having A Navigation Input But Doesn't Say What System It's Compatable With! Auwg!
I Think I Made A Mistake Buying This Mirror. But It Has Temp And Compass Also And I Haven't Been Able To Find All Three Options In A Mirror. Any Ideas Anyone? Help!

Second of all, the focus of these forums is on installing a PC in your ride. The GPS forum deals primarily with GPS hardware/software for the PC.
You may be able to get an answer to your issue here, but you're more likely to get an answer from the manufacturer or from another GPS-dedicated forum like gpspassion.com or somesuch.

Find the pin outs of the 20 pin mirror. Buy an RCA-RGB adaptor. Build a cable between the two.

That ought to fix it.

Looking at www.mediaviewtech.com there are several different models. The one that seems to match your description is described as having multiple camera inputs. These will be RCA compatible...but unless your screen came with a manual or tech sheet describing the inputs you'll have a hell of a time figuring out what wires to use. If you can't get a description from the seller, send it back.

first of all darquepervert, my caps lock was broken on the computer i was using but hey, since you put it so nicely, NOT! i will use another computer since capital letters seem to annoy you. second, i believe my issue is suitable for this forum since it deals with gps hardware. if you can't help me, then don't post.
the manufacturer is in china and i don't speak chinese. their distributer could care less because i am not their customer. they sell to online electronics outlets. i contacted the online store where i purchased the item and they had zero tech support. garmin was a joke. i knew more about their products than their operators did.
BUGBYTE: thanks for the suggestion but there is no such thing as a rca to rgb adapter. rca and rgb are two different languages. i have found a converter box which converts rca comp. to rgb data but no audio and you have to slice and and solder sync wires.i just have a hard time believing the manufactures of this mirror expected novice car owners to slice and dice cables in hopes that they might fall on the right combo of wires.
as i have been told a rgb cable is a data cable for giving and receiving information. (like a touch screen) rca is just for audio and video output.
PIP: tryed the multiple camera outputs, unfortunately they reverse the image on the display. everything is backwards. and you have to have the car in reverse or a turn signal on to activate the video input. i could trick the mirror into thinking the car was in reverse but the nav would be on all the time.

UPDATE~ i have struck paydirt. i found out that the mirror/lcd/compass/temp device i purchased was only designed to work with a nav unit made by VDO DAYTON INC. these nav units are mainly sold in europe. i found that is does have maps for the USA and i've been told its a very nice system. i know pioneer uses a twenty pin molex cable also but don't know if its compatable. looks like i'll be shelling out $900.00 for a VDO. oh well. thanks for the help everyone. i would say don't buy products from china but that would include almost everything electronic out there!

It's not that capital letters annoy me. I use them all the time, just not in en masse.
The fact is, when you type in all caps in this forum, it parses it so that each word is capitalized. It loks ugly and is difficult to read. Don't believe me? Go look at your own post!

And you completely missed my point somehow.
The mp3car.com forums are all about installing computers in our vehicles. That's not to say that someone can't help you here or that it's inappropriate. It's simply less likely to get you any assistance with your issue. If you interpreted my reply as one saying you're not welcome, then I apologize for giving you that impression.

The fact is, you're wanting assistance with non-PC GPS hardware. Considering the focus of the mp3car.com forums, you tell us whether this was the best choice as far as where you'll get assistance.

For that size display you could have just gotten a regular gps unit. I would ditch the mirror on ebay or something and regroup. Word to the wise, respect the moderators.

Perhaps my use of the term adaptor suggested that there is a magic cable to do this. You are correct that there is not. However, that does not mean it cannot be done. There is almost always a solution for something like this.

BUGBYTE- yes that is a RCA to VGA converter in your secound link but unfortunatly the RGB input on my lcd is a twenty pin molex connector. the link you provided was RCA to RGB composite. that works great for home component systems but not for automotive. i kept getting hits like those on my search engines. i don't know if you read my update, i found what i needed to make it work. now i 'd like to know how bugbyte edited MY post?! how is that possible?
