Problems w/ Bu-353 and IG3

I've been running I guidance 3 with a Delorme earthmate via the Delorme Serial program. I replaced the earthmate with a BU-353 and installed the software that came with the BU-353. When I open Iguidance a window pops up saying the GPS receiver is not connected. When I unplug and replug the GPS receiver it will find it, but if i just do a autoconnect it will not find it. I'm running the GPS on COMM 1, and have bluetooth on comm 5 and 11, and my OBD on 8 (i i think, i'm not with the computer right now). The receiver is connected to the mac mini via an extension USB cable.

I've searched but have not come up with anything

The BU353 is a USB device. As such, it should not be assiged COM1.

Should be a quick fix to change it.

Try port 3 with Baud rate 4800. Had the same problem last night and took way too long to fix it.

i went ahead and reinstalled the driver, which put the com port at 7. I left it there and IG picked it up after two tries.... we'll see what happens now but I have a feeling that I might go ahead and reinstall IG just to try and make it run smoother...

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help, I would have never figured that out

BU353 is a USB-to-serial driver by prolific. Look it up in the device manager. It will tell you the COM port assigned to it.
If you need to change that, find that COM port in the device manager and change the assignement.

That may or may not work. every device & setup is different. This isnt' a situation where "set it XXX way" will work every time.
