Help - Mappoint 2006 issue

I'm trying to get Mappoint to work on my new carputer. I finally got it to install (kept blue screening on the first disk). Now, if I try to start mappoint, it just puts the cpu to 100% and sits there. I left it for an hour with no change. If I go into road runner, it shows that I've got 3 sats (I'm in the garage), but if I try to go to the GPS in RR, it just locks up too....

The original blue screen issue was solved by upping the resolution to 1024x768 from 800x600, which is weird enough... Anybody seen anthing like this because I haven't. Mappoint installed fine on my desktop PC for development work (same disks).... Everything else on the carputer works without a hitch...

It's an Aopen 915 w/ 1.73 Ghz processor, 1Gb of RAM, and a 120 GB HD.

Thanks.

I have installed MapPiont a few times now and never seen these problems so I doubt its a generic problem. I would say its something to do with your install without a doubt.
Are you running a full version of XP SP2?
If you can, can you bring up task manager ans see what process is struggling?

Yeah, I'm sure the issue is with this computer, but I can't figure out what..... I've searched everywhere and haven't found anything close to my issue.

It's XP Home SP2 w/ all the updates. No antivirus running or anything that would cause issues. Mappoint.exe is what is sitting at about 100%. I tried to uninstall and try again. It blue screened during the uninstall, so I quit for the night. I've never seen a program act like this before.

I think I'm going to have to pull it out of the car and bring it into the house for some serious troubleshooting.... I really hope I don't have to blow it out and start over. That would suck....

Well, I brought the computer in the house and got Mappoint to finally install. Now. the GPS receiver won't work.... This is getting really annoying....

I put the receiver over to my desktop computer, and it's dead. I guess I get to buy a new one now.
