GPS randomly disconnects

I have noticed over the past few weeks that my GPS connection in iGuidance randomly disappears for a few seconds at a time while driving down the highway, local road, or anywhere else. It seems like the entire com port is disappearing because the car icon becomes white (indicating no GPS receiver) instead of red (indicating no satellites). Within 2-3 seconds, it picks back up and gets all 7-8 satellites that I had before. It typically happens not more than once every 15-20 minutes (if even that), but if I have Goops running of another port supplied by xport, it seems to happen more frequently. Is this an xport issue or is there something wrong with my GPS receiver (AyAy Sir Ti-GPS)? Thanks

what receiver are you using?
This happens to me all the time, it much more frequent for me then it is for you. I haven't figured out what the problem is.
I think it might be the receiver, I'm gonna get my cousins and test with that one.

I am having similar problems with a BU-353; but i noticed if you start SirfDemo and watch the debug view the data from the GPS mouse itself seems to stop flowing and then starts again. I read a post on MSDN which suggested that a windows update had caused some issue with USB-Serial drivers

I need to do more tests, but are these the symptons you guys are getting if you run sirfdemo?

I haven't tested with sirfdemo, but when I'm running xport, it shows the nema sentences at the bottom and it does exactly as you described. You will see data running and then it stops and then starts again.
I know it used to work perfect fine before, but I have since reformated my hhd twice and since then it has not works properly. I'm going to connect the receiver to a laptop and test as well and see if I get the same results or if it something to do with my computer.

Have you tried changing the baud rates? Both in your application and in the com port system in device manager.

I would change the baud rate in anything using that port.

- Xport
- Iguidance
