Garmin nRoute

I have a copy of garmin mapsource+nRoute with australian maps.......... looks like a good program..... HOWEVER i have a Globesat BU-353 USB GPS reciever and of course (to my dissapointment) they will not talk to each other... Is there something i can do to rectify this problem/ ie. patch/add-on to make them communicate, give up and buy different program/receiver ect....

Very little has been written by users about nRoute. If you wish to one day take the time to write your thoughts about it, I think it would be interesting reading for several of us.

Yeah nRoute..... Its ok... I havn't used any other programs of this type so i have nothing to compare it to.... I like it for what i use it for. Not exacly athsetically pleasing but functions great... I see that using Destinator with mapmonkey turns it into something with more "style" i suppose does anyone know if theres and equivelent for nRoute?. that would be interesting... I suppose now you of someone that has nRoute you can feel free to ask any questions.

I will be curious to hear from you, after you've had a chance to take it for a test drive, if the automatic route recalculation works. Try to take a wrong turn to see what happens. It may or may not work with your non-Garmin GPS receiver.

Automatic route recalc. is a godsend. It works great it doesn't just turn you back around to the route you just avoided but recalculates a new one, which is what i was hoping it would do. I want to know if i can download different voices for it. Bridget (as I call her) with her posh British accent gets a little annoying sometimes.

Not sure about that, but I will find out sooner or later. Garmin will be sending me nRoute + map + their GPS unit for a review. I've never tried nRoute myself, but now I want to start reviewing all available PC navigation software for a website I just started a couple of weeks ago :-)

It's not related directly to CarPCs, though. It's just a (non-commercial) site which I hope will eventually have reviews and other info about all available PC navigation software. It'll still take a while to get there, as I'm just doing it in my spare time :-)

Do you need to buy GPSgate or is the trial only needed?
I can't get nroute to see my reciever either.

I understand that if the full version is 'required' then it has to be bought but i'd like to understand more what way the nroute uses it. Does it setup a reciever once and configure the software or is it needed everytime the software starts?
So after 14 days would nRoute be unusable?
Cheers

Im instal GPSGate + Adriaroute 1.8(maps) + nRoute. then configure GPSGate, then start nRoute and configure GPS device and other settings... and I only start nroute and working (GPS gate must be started) so you don't need setup device everytime when you start nRoute...
