Want to buy receiver what one should i choose?

I am looking to buy a new receiver tonight and i am unsure what would be the best for my specs

i was looking at the BU-353 and the Rooftop GPS/Cellular/PCS/WiFi antenna here in the store

if anyone could answer these questions it would make my life allot easier.. will the BU-353 work well under glass, not as well as outside the car i can imagine but will it still perform decently untill i decide to drill a hole? is the rooftop antenna just an antenna or is it also a receiver? i dont want to have to buy a separate gps receiver to get it to work.. i also run a laptop for the carpc so an outside wifi would be awesome. would i have to buy pigtails for each function on the rooftop?

thanks in advance

My BU353 is on my dashboard, behind the windshield and works just fine.

The antenna is just that: an antenna. It is not a GPS receiver.
The BU353 also has no accomodations for an external GPS antenna.

thats what i thought the rooftop was... shame, i could have definitely used something like that... i had previously used a deluo usb gps for my ride from FL to NY and it was dead on 5-7 satellites under the glass and between 2-5m accuracy at all times..

i did find 1 place selling them after shipping with no software for $45 so i decided since i have used it and spec-to-spec the deluo was a better gps

if anyone is interested just do a little google searching and you will find it, i dont want to lead any business away from mp3car.com since they have been good to me and provide me with these forums where i started my car puting experience but it would behoove them to check out these gps receivers

my bu-353 is also on my dash, centered as far foward as i could get it, i get great reception! except during certain conditions offroad when my nose is pointed down at greater than a 45 degree angle (been a few cases like that and lost all reception to the reciever)

however i dont think that will be a problem for most people.

also, the delorme bluelogger is a great bluetooth gps, used it yesterday on a trip to phoenix, and i always had 7-8 sats.

thanks guys/gals for your input, i am awaiting my deluo from Semsons & Co and my new copy of IG4.

i dont really have to worry about the nose of my truck pointing down for too long and for the most part the bags are dropped in the back and up in the front so there would be an even better reception range then the deg. the window is at now. hope it reads through foliage well because around here there is a whole lot of nothing and mostly all trees and dirt roads.... sucks driving a mini truck daily around here

I just replaced my Earthmate with a BU-353 and it made a huge difference. Gets a fix quicker and is much more accurate -- my GPS trail actually follows the roads in S&T, instead of weaving around. I have it on my rear deck, the magnet sticks to my speaker grill.
