Gps question

i am going to buy a gps receiver and i have come across some. the one thing that is confusing me is the SiRF Star II and SiRF Star III what is the difference and what is it? and i was thinkin of getting the BU-303 reciever will this work with Pc navigator? as this is the software i am going to be using.

It's a great receiver. I have one and have never had a problem.
