Internally, a GPS may be able to manage over 12 channels at once, but NMEA and SiRF only support reporting up to 12 channels so you'll never see any more than that.

Yes, but daboss is thinking long-term (technology does change). Check the poll results a few years from now

Interesting wonder if this is what is happening..

The only way to tell would be to see how many satellites someone with a high channel receiver is locking on to.

i.e 32 channel receiver how many satellites do you lock on to?

I have a 12-16 Channel and only get 9-10 sometimes 11.

8-11 here in Sydney, Aus. GPS is in A pillar.
