Xport

Hi,

I am using Xport trying to get my GPS receiver not to loose lock and have to be disconnected after hibernation however it still needs to be disconnected and connected again or I need to wait 5-10mins for it to come back.

Any ideas I have tried everything!!

Does the data stop or is it just taking that long to get a fix once it returns from hibernation? And what GPS is it?

It appears the data is still coming in after hibernation but takes a long time to get a fix 5-10mins. I am using the BU-353

How old is your BU353? How long it fixes using comport directly, with xport switched off? What percentage of sky is viewable while `it fixes too long`, does the fix faster while the car not moving?

It's probably the GPS. Some have trouble, and some don't. Mine gets 8-12 sats by the time Windows is loaded. The first thing I would do is load GPSInfo or open the window in a nav program that shows sat count, signals and positions. If satellites are showing only low signal strengths or very few or only on the sides or center then you have something blocking the signal. Stick it outside the window, and move it around as much as you can while watching the display. The BU-353 is very sensitive and can pick up very well but not through metal or tint. Otherwise, if sticking it out the window doesn't get 8+ high signals, then there's probably something wrong with it.

If I run the GPS though Iguidance directly there is no delay is getting locks. I normally have 7-10 sats locked. If I look at Xport the data is flowing no problem.

I'd say get rid of XPort. Is the virtual port used bewteen iGuidance and XPort COM9 or lower? I know it has trouble with 2 digit numbers. Can't think of anything else really.
