bu-353 satellite fix problem, no fix anywhere !

hey everyone, apart from having the most updated drivers for the bu-353, when i load GPS information the software provided,
and centrafuse, my bu-353 seems to not get a fix anywhere outside and even at different locations no matter how long it scans,

anyone have any ideas or have I bought a faulty bu-353 ?
the thing i I did have a dodgy ebay gps receiver, at that manages to establish a signal when in gps mode for centrafuse ...
have I dont something wrong ?
settings are correct with baud of 4800, 8 bits stop bit 1, and parity none,

com port correctly detected aswell GPS information seems to not get any fix at all

Can you open up a terminal (like HyperTermnal built into XP) ont hat COM port? If you do you should see the raw data stream from the GPS, even if it's not getting a lock.
If you're getting gibberish or nothing at all, your BU353 may be defective.

Well, that's not NMEA data. That's Sirf data, I believe.
You need a tool to switch from SIRF mode to NMEA mode so your GPS application can read the NMEA data.

SIRFDemo can do this, I'm pretty certain.
