A trip computer automatically records trip data and a trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail, so you can see where you've been on the map. Even avoid certain roads or areas.

These free, real-time services from Garmin Online™ put essential travel information at your fingertips.
Purchase the Bundle Right for You

Garmin Mobile PC is available with or without a GPS sensor depending on your laptop configuration (see versions tab). Does anyone know if a map that works on Garmin Mobile XT will also work with Garmin Mobile PC?

I tried this because I have one of the Garmin GPS in my car and I really wanted the same software on my computer. Unfortunately all these maps and stuff are confusing as hell for me!

I installed the software but no maps and was informed to get them online and unlock them with a code they gave me... now I have no idea how to get maps or load them on?

So confused haha I gave up basically.
Mine starts quickly though if thats any help, it just doesnt have any friggin maps!

How do you acutally get the map into the Garmin Mobile PC program though?

What happens right now is that it opens up with no maps and I'm simply an arrow in the middle of a blank screen. I installed that map and it mentioned MapSource? Im guessing I need Garmin Mapsource to acutally install the maps into Garmin products?

greetings,

my first post, so hello everybody...

colin: to add maps to your garmin mobile pc you have to use mapsource to create an .img for mobile pc, its the same like you would upload an nüvi (do not forget that mobile pc has to be open, otherwise mapsource wont find any device)...

Rillee: i have the same annoying problem, mobile pc takes about 3 minutes to start up, and even when i starts, it works like crap, i installed it on some other pcs and no problem there, so my guess is my graphic card, because the problemed pc is a slow carpc with integrated graphics, somewhere i have a pci radeon 9100 laying around, and ill try later that...

regards...

Awesome, thanks.

After all this time, I finally got it all up and running. I didn't have the DVDs or instructions or anything so it took a while, but I wrote myself a nice set of instructions for when I install it on the actual CarPC instead of my desktop.

Thanks

day,

finally i solved the problem with mobile pc running very slow... The problem was the Floppy drive in my CarPC, i dont have any diskette drive installed of course, but i forgot to turn it off in the bios, so windows thought that i have a floppy drive,...
After i turned it off, mobile pc started to work like it should...

I installed mobile pc on some other pcs and it looks like the problem lays in the program mobile pc - certainly i found a bug, because when i want to choose some other vehicle, the floppy drive starts to work, just bi itself...

Rillee: i hope that i solved your problem too...

regards...
