Not sure what all that means.
12 Channels sounds like a lot.
Slow locking, I assume that it just takes a bit longer to find the satellite?
No idea what sirfIII is...

If you don't know what it is, then save your money until you do know or you will be buying multiple things.
A quick search will reveal it all.

I agree. BU-353 is very nice.
At least get something with SirfIII.

The unit linked in the first post has -150dBm tracking sensitivity. Don't buy. For the same amount of money you can get better. Do as others in this thread have suggested: buy BU-353.

Meh, I've got an old sirf II gps puck I grabbed off ebay a few years back. It was 12 bucks or something close to that. AY-ay sir I think is written on it.
Never had any issues with lock on or response for in car use.
But then again, I'm happy with it positioning me on the road and I use iguidance which isn't exactly "fluid" when moving the image across the screen. Maybe the refresh rate doesn't matter so much with that program.........
I would listen to marvin though, he tends to know what he's talking about
Cheers

Well, the older SirfStarII isn't bad, we all lived with it happily for a long time, but if he can get the newer SiRFstarIII for the same money, why not...

Bought a cheap ebay random thing first. It was RUBBISH. Bought a BU353, much happier.
Do it right first time, trust me.

For drivers, they supply you with them.
For actual nav software, you can use any that accept a NMEA data stream
