I am just trying to set up my Bu-353 gps receiver and Iguidance 4 with Xport.

I had it working the other day on another hard drive and was able to get a fixed location and everything worked, but now i cant seem to get to working.

As of right now i am getting a solid light on the gps receiver which means its on but looking for signal.

I can't seem it to find a fixed signal.

I have installed the drivers that came with the gps receiver and before i used Xport i went into device manager to see what comm port the gps is going to use. Its comm 3 in device manager.

So, then i installed xport and put the input at comm3 and output as comm4.

WHen i open GPSInfo, it sees the gps on comm4 and outputs information, but the light on the receiver still doesn't blink and can't get fixed location.

I have also made sure the baud rate is set to 4800 in xport, device manager for com3 and in GPSInfo

Any help would be appreciated as i seem to be having problems with something. Hopefully its just a setting or something.

Just bought a BU-353 and waiting for it to arrive next week.
I have the BT-339 (Bluetooth) and have connection issues from startup mode, etc.
So trying the USB version. I'll let you know if I figure something out.

If yoy have a COM Port (9-Pin) on your Mobo, then I would try Changing the COM Setting of the GPS, if possible. (I do not know about that GPS receiver, yet) I can on my BT version.

Change the INBOUND COM Port. Put the OUTBOUND COM Port to something like COM8/COM9. This way it is out of the way of your Serial port(s). They use COM3 & COM4 - If you have 2 Serial 9-Pin Ports)

since you are getting a solid light then it means that you do not have a fixed position (no lock) so it is not a software isue at all.. the bu353 does not need software to aquire a fixed position.. it is supposed to get a fix some seconds/minutes after you power it (plug it in to a usb port to get voltage) so most probably you do not have a clear sky above you (the glass in your car maybe??) move the unit in open air and see.

You are correct.

The first time i tested the gps i was bench testing in my basement and i was able to connect to 2 satellites. When i tried it a few days later it would not get a fixed location.

When i brought it to my friends house to test everything i was able to get a fixed signal.

So, was definately not getting a clear signal from my basement.
