Yes, that's it! Congrats! As ptk also reported, TigerGPS has it, too. They list the hardware/software bundle as available for pre-order, but the software-only version is now in stock, and shipping . Thanks for the good news!

Use a comma or two and maybe a couple periods when you write the review..

compatibility

Im sure that if it is availiable to purchase without the GPS receiver, then it would be compatible with others. Im just going off memory here, but i remember reading that it works just like other GPS programs (GPS reciever -> USB port -> USB to serial bridge -> GPS program) dont quote me but i'd say yes. or do quote me.

Or quote Garmin....

"Purchase the Bundle Right for You
Garmin Mobile PC is available with or without a GPS sensor depending on your laptop configuration (see versions tab). Purchase Garmin Mobile PC software on DVD separately if your laptop already has an internal GPS receiver. For laptops without GPS, Garmin Mobile PC comes bundled with the GPS 20x sensor, a sleek, thin, high-sensitivity USB GPS receiver."

Yeah, this will (as far as I know) going to be the very first ever Garmin product which will work even with a plain, NMEA compatible, non-Garmin GPS receiver right out of the box !

I can't wait to check my mailbox this afternoon , Garmin Mobile PC may already be there waiting for me (or I may need to wait till tomorrow ).

Question for you, do you think garmin mobile pc will work with the pharos GPS-360 linked here? http://www.pharosgps.com/support/igps360_spec.htm I already have it, so I wouldn't mind using that to keep costs down on my build

my copy arrived.

1. it will work with ANY GPS device as long as you chose to activate it (internet connection required)
2. it will work with any Garmin devices without activation
3. it will copy the whooping 1gb US file across. but the good thing is, you can delete it and it still has the base world map to run on.
4. it will take any garmin map you throw at it. as long as it's in gmapsupp.img format.
5. it's not as full feature as the other product lines yet.
6. no onscreen keyboard. (growl)

Where is this piece of info from? I'm getting some conflicting info, or perhaps I'm just interpreting the info I'm getting incorrectly (which is likely the case).

Are all/most/which-ones Garmin mapping products in gmapsupp.img format?
