about my earthmate

well my carputer is running strong thanks to my friends installation!!! now the only issue i have is this:

I installed the atlas maps ad i wired my earthmate usb gps thingy.. When i plug it in the computer it makes the classic sound that some usb item has been plugged and the light on the gps starts blinking red...then it just stops and it doesnt GPS me or nothing its like its dead

Could it be the port no giving enough power????? can i help the GPS thingy with Iguidance instead of atlas?

any help will b appreciated

rault18 are you using the delorme earthmate GPS? I have the LT-20 and I am able to use it with Iguidance V4. When you mean that is is dead, what are you referring to exactly? Is the unit no longer blinking red? Is it a steady green? If you wish to use the earthmate gps and it is the same one I am using, then you will need to download the usb to serial emulator. Just google it. If
