Eonon E0901 GPS Software?
Hey All experts!
I have used the search function, but I did't find some answer for my question, so I will now ask you about the software in Eonon E0901 GPSbox can be removed and replaced with another software. My mind is, that the product is running on Windows NT 4.2, and can tomTom, Garmin or another software be running on that kind a platform..?
Plaese help me.
Kenneth, Denmark, Europe!

Hi Kloers,
I am about to purchase the Eonon E0907 & E0908. The only different is the map, ie E0907 for West Europe map and E0908 for US map.
Ok, I would like to tryout the GPS Box using garmin too since the actual map that I required is Malaysia and Singapore map. Have you try to use garmin mapsource thru the Eonon GPS Box? I believe it should able to translate the data since the operating system is in Window CE version 4++.
I have the Garmin mapsource which I am using for my PDA. A friend of mine is having a different Garmin mapsource which is using for partable GPS (Navi200).
I hope some expert in this forum can help to run the test.

Hi Andy!
I have not tried to connect them, because the map is on a SD card, and you have some key's to unlock Garmin maps for the PDA. And yes, it's some cracks out there to do it, but i haven't tried yet. But my mind i also, can it run on Win CE / NT, like the Eonon is build in.
- On Garmin's homepage, they write, that Garmin is only for Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian so I really don't know... But If we don't try, we'll not learn! (:
Have a nice day - Kenneth K.

I've read somewhere that someone managed to change the navigation software on the Eonon GPS unit, and it seemed to work. I can't remember where I read it though. Hmm...

Hi Nathan,
Thanks for your positive input. I am still waiting for my Eonon GPS player to reach by next week. By that time, I will try some software (other than Nokia navigation software) on the unit.
The supplier also did mentioned about the possibility to run Garmin or other mapsource on the unit based on her customer's feedback.
Will update you the outcome. Thx anyway.

If you're looking for maps for Malaysia, you're better off going with Tele Atlas maps. According to an article in BusinessWeek, "Garmin buys about 99% of its mapping data from NAVTEQ, says company spokesman Ted Gartner, while a tiny sliver of data concerning Malaysia comes from Tele Atlas." Makes more sense to go with Tele Atlas maps if it's been acknowledged by Garmin that Tele Atlas is superior in Malaysia.

Hi KloerS, yes I have received the Eonon GPS 3 months ago. Sorry for not able to reply at that time since to bz with something else. The gps box is operating with NT 4.2 and they are using Nokia's map. It comes with USA and Europe map (coz I bought 2 units) but it doesn't suit me coz I am staying in Malaysia. What I did is to get from TeleAtlas so called I-Go and it works perfectly. You can source using I-Go.
Hope this is useful to you.

Hi Andy - can you please share how you got the map for TeleAtlas for Malaysia? Also what head unit do you use with your Eonon GPS device?
Thanks,

You can shop for Tele Atlas Maps on the Tele Atlas site or http://www.matlastech.com/ who get their Malaysian Maps licenses from Tele Atlas. I've North American TA maps on both my TomTom One 3rd Edition and GO 930. I had the chance to play around with the new 330s with the maps on there, and I really can't say anything bad about the accuracy and quality. Just a great experience all around for me. Let me know if you have any issues getting the Malaysian maps

Hi dmart23,
Thanks for the heads-up - went there and found only people selling program for GPS - no maps per se - or am I misunderstanding it all? Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
