Garmin etrex legend and CoPilot 2k2

OK gang..question for all of you GPS gurus out there...i have tried a search but couldnt come up with much info about this.

I hooked up the etrex to copilot and it worked...recognized the receiver...yadda, yadda....and got the "CP only works with the CP reciever" message.....no biggie right?

I read that the Garmin sends too many signals out for CP to understand...and i guess my question is how do you hack the etrex to make it send the correct signals to CP?? I know it can be done with the Garmin35 but I could find no info on the etrex

Thanks!

http://www.garmin.com/support/download.html download the right utility and select only GPGGA, GPGSA, GPRMC and GPGSV. Before you jump the gun and get all excited, it's probably not gonna work. Copilot software looks for the rockwell binary which the Garmin doesn't send. I've tried so many settings on my Garmin GPS 16. you can also read this thread

Mine has an updater and a configurer. I used the configurer to change the setting. Anyway it most likely won't work with Copilot. You may want to try Rand McNally serial GPS receiver. It works with Copilot. I read somewhere that Navman GPS also works. Copilot Nav looks for GPS via COM ports so the USB version might not work.

Yeah, I looked around for one of the rand receivers, but no one sells them anymore...even the travel store only sells the Navman....looked on Staples site and they have them, but not in stock and they wont be getting any in according to them. I looked on ebay and there is one...

If i get the Navman I will get the serial version.
