GPS time delay after Standby

What can I do to speedup Windows, GPSgate or maybe RR to detect the GPS stream after resuming from standby. There is a delay from 10 minutes up.
I use an inverter, (so there is no power to the GPS when in standby)
Fortune U2 USB GPS ,GPSGATE 2.5 and GARMIN Nroute.
The prolific driver is in Windows device manager.
GSPgate show that there is incoming info but does not turn green.
I have to do a "scan for hardware change" some times before I get a green signal from GPSgate or reboot.

If your switching the GPS off in standby then your doing a cold lock everytime which takes longer to happen. This will also confuse windows in standby as when it went into standby it was there but when it comes out it wont be and it could take a while to sort itself out. I don't understand how your using standby but cant keep power to the GPS unit mind you as standby must be powered all the time. Either way you could try Devcon from Microsoft and tell it to rescan devices via hibernate trigger. Instructions on how to do it is here http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/faq-...de-devcon.html . These instructions are meant to disable and re-enable devices but there is also a command to re-scan since that seems to work for you manually it should work via Devcon.

Thank you v8 scimitar.
I will try the devcon option.

I have a 5V permanent supply for the memory only to keep it in standby.
Can I do the same with the GPS with a separate 5V supply?

yes it will work just the same as for the 5v to the GPS it depends if it has a separate supply point otherwise you would have to keep the USB supplied. Thinking about it a powered hub might keep 5v to it but I have never used a powered hub like that so don't honestly know for sure.
