Beginning to go INSANE!!! *aaaaah* GPS problem

I sold my GPS mouse (USB) because it began to take over the mouse on the screen, and make it go all psycho on me...

So I sold it, bought a new one, PS/2 (power) Com GPS "mouse".

And this one has the same problem!??!

AAAAAAH! (i thought it would be the USB-COM bridge driver that USB gps's have, that where messing with my mouse pointer...)

obviuosly not...

What the hell is the problem!?? anyway else had this problem?

The gps is Haicom 203-E Serial
OS: WindowsXP

Try going into device manager and if you see a second mouse installed change it to disabled

it's picking it up as a Serial mouse, go and disable it, and continue working like it didn't even happen....
What I did, I turned the computer on...the mouse was going crazy....I unhooked the GPS, while the comp was still on...went to device manager, and then disabled it....
haven't had a prob since....let us know how it works for you!
If you do a SEARCH you will notice that a lot of people have had the same problem, and found that this solution works!

Yea, win98 et al, wants to install everything as a mouse, so you have to disable that for the boot, or have the GPS powered off until the computer completes the boot.

I disabled the adding mouse thing, and mine has been fine for a year.

That's a windows issue, It's stupid enough to think the GPS is a mouse, even if you already have a PS2 mouse available and working.

You can have more than 1 mouse type input device . At one time, I had a PS/2 mouse, USB track ball, touch screen, and another PS/2 mouse attached to a USB port replicator all on one computer. And all of them work. For the GPS acting as a mouse, my computer didnt go all crazy. It just dectected as a mouse. I just disable it from the hardware profile.

This disabling may work but there is a chance it could someday become enabled again when you boot your machine up. An even more sure-fire way to make sure that thing is disabled is to rename mouse.vxd to something else. Then the driver is not going to load even. I think that only works on Win9X though as I recall.
