Is there any way to convince IGuidance to read map files from other than the default directory in the root of the c drive? With my CF card, I simply don't have much space to throw around for large maps.

(Note, for any people going nuts with disabling services, if "Event Log" isn't running, neither will IGuidance, Map Loader, or even the auth tool, whose "we don't trust our customers," "always taking memory/cpu" authorization service apparently can't run without logging.)

The only option I'm aware of is off the CD.

But there has to be a better way.

Theoretically I can keep the .iso I made then and use magicdisc to mount it. It's certainly a hack, but better than using a quarter or more of my CF. Will try that tonight. (Not that I want more apps/services constantly running.)

Try using a junction/symbolic link... might be a vista thing only though.

Apparently, there is some support for symlinks in XP as well, which I should have thought of earlier. Sadly, since I formatted my CF as FAT32, and symlinks require ntfs5, I'm still SOL. Bleh. Wonder how hard it could possibly be to edit the executable to look elsewhere, and still pass whatever absurd copy protection they use.

Symlinks in XP? NTFS5? I'll but if anyone has info about this I'm really interested. I will not be going to Vista, and this would really help out with some things in XP.
