Yes, BU-353 is a very popular USB GPS receiver. Many people on this forum use it, including me.

I just installed mine yesterday and it worked out of the box, just installed the software and it worked. I got it from http://www.buygpsnow.com/bu-353-353-...-waas-455.aspx

Costs $36.95 USD and has free shipping, seems like a good deal to me.

GPS is new to me (I've never had anything GPS). So does the BU353 have to go on the outside of the car or can you have it on the inside? If it can go on the inside, does it have to be visible or can you have it hidden (like in the headliner or in the dash)?

I know those are probably stupid questions, but I've tried to stay away from GPS's before as I've never had much of a use for them based on where I live (you know all the streets). Now that I'm nearly finished with the truckputer I'm needing this.

I have a BR-355 which is similar to 353, and it works great even though I have it mounted inside.. Even when I have the car parked inside my garage with the door closed!

I started off by placing it on top of the cargo cover behind the rear seats, so it sat right behind the rear windshield (I have a scion tc). Then I found out that I could even tuck it away in the side of the trunk area and still lock onto enough satellites to be accurate enough.

Just make sure it is somewhat level wherever you put it. Also, I have heard that metallic tinted windows could affect the performance.
