Really...stupid GPS question

Guys, I do apologise for this stupid question as i'm sure its obvious, but I can't seem to confirm this anywhere for certain.

As far as GPS goes...

If I were to buy a GPS USB dongle and say MS Streets and Trips - It would give me all the maps and what not....but you still need to pay some sort of monthly fee for acessings the satellites to pinpoint your location correct? What kind of company does that...as well as what are the costs?

Or...am I completely wrong and when you buy MS Streets and Trips you get "lifetime" satellite access?

satellite access is free. Once you buy the software, you are good to go.

There is also another system that uses the GPS signal with the local mobile phone network to give you more accurate data, but you don't need this.

Even though the GPS system is maintained by the US military, people from all over the world use it free of charge, since the birds fly and can be received anywhere on the planet.

I receive stuff from the birds nearly every day, free of charge.
Which reminds me that I need to get my truck washed.

You never found that link, did you? Why? It's hard to find in the NavBar across the top of the forums, amongst a lot of other crap.

TELL MP3CAR YOU WANT A LINK TO THE FAQ IN A MORE OBVIOUS, NOTICABLE LOCATION HERE.
