Has anyone used a combination of Trimble's Lassen iQ (

I don't have any expertise on gps, least not technical stuff, if I combined this USB evaluation board with the lassen IQ, can it simply be connected and drivers installed like a usb gps dongle, under Windows XP? Is this compatible with most road navigation software out-of-the-box, or does that require custom drivers, coding etc to behave like a consumer USB GPS device?
I wrote to sparkfun, they couldn't provide any advice on navigation software, but suspected that it might require some custom coding ( which frightens the life out of me)
