Hi, I use Destinator maps with Centrafuse, not free but it works. You can buy Centrafuse standard which happens to be 50% off at the mo, and just put your Destinator Australia maps in the Centrafuse folder and it works. Of course Centrafuse will not update your maps if this happens. PM me if you need advice of where to get the maps as there is sources in Aus. Good luck.

See what free stuff is being talked about on this forum http://www.gpsaustralia.net/

I use Odyssey Navigator from www.twig.com.au Not free, but very well priced particularly if you get it bundled with a GPS receiver, works welll and embeds nicely in RoadRunner

How does Odyssey compare with something like TomTom? I'm asking because I'm used to using my TomTom One XL in the other cars and TomTom on my phone. I like point of interests, but they're not an absolute necessity for me. I do like the convenience of choosing a route, and then selecting a part of the route to avoid. Does Odyssey offer a similar level of functionality?

I can't answer as I have not used anything else. It has plenty of POI's. Not sure about avoiding a section of a route. Try the demo software and see what you reckon.

How new/old software is Odyssey? I haven't heard about it before. It seems like a nice software.

Marvin, I m not sure how old but I have tracked it for about 3 years now ever since I got interested in Car PC's. When I went looking for Streetnav for Australia, it and Copilot and this had the cost advantage.

From what I can work out, it has maps are available for Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the US. I think it may be a version of Navteq, but why don't you ask Mal Twig at www.twig.com.au on sales@twig.com.au for more details. I have spoken to him and exchanged a few emails with him over the last few months and he has provided outstanding service.

I had a quick look at your site and I think if you wanted to distribute it, he would be happy to talk to you.

Anyway, I have got nothing to reference it against, but I think it is a good product.

Rod, thanks much for the info. Right after I posted my question here, I sent a quick email to TWIG. Just as you say, the software has been available since late 2006/early 2007. I will definetelly have a look at it and write a review of it.

By the way, Laptop GPS World doesn't distribute any product (other than information ).
