dude chill out with the forum spammin'
it sucks to find out that all the new posts in the gps section are because someone wants to push some software when one post would suffice

makes me less likely to use something when it turns into an annoyance

I bought AGPS instead. For such a cheap product, it does what I need, and does it well enough and I don't need to sell a kidney to buy it.

the Author of AGPS should congratulate himself on such a wonderful product.

Dont bother with Infomap Navigator I just bought it 2 weeks ago. The navigation part is useless.

I MapPoint and Infomap, but I thoroughly recommend Memory Map Navigator. This piece of software is the best...

It shows 1:50k OS maps with a moving GPS location cursor AND has satellite maps of the same area.

Than means you can have a detailed OS map in one 1/2 of the screen showing your exact position, contours, byways etc AND a high quality satellite image next to it showing exactly what is the other side of the woods etc...

Its great for off-roading.

Memory Map

The software is well thought out with large buttons and really fast. It doesn't do auto routing or voice directions but thats what the other packages are for!

Hows memory map in navigations? how well does it cope in real life situations?

I done some testing on powerloc destinator 2, infomap navigator,
autoroute 2003, route 66 2003 Pro and tomtom navigator 2 ( PDA ) Still tomtom is the best for navigations.

I just got Alturion GPS Pro 5.0 software...its looking good.

The memory map does not do routing or navigation. It provides detailed OS level maps and satellite images of the entire country.

As you drive, the map centres on your location and moves with you. There is a fully searchable database for locating places.

I'm more than a little surprised by that comment. I bought a copy last year and have used it to navigate all over the country and across Europe. Tuning the settings for the road speeds and road preferences matched my own routes pretty closely. It excells when you are an in an unfamiliar town giving visual and spoken instructions. How else can you get from Venlo to MaximillianStrasse in Munich? Even when I ignored it and turned off it recalculated. You have to load the map for each country and it's recalculations are slower than Autoroute particularly on very long/compex routes but with spoken directions, head-up map displays and automatic recalculation it can't be beaten at £50. Ok, I'm biased, I bought it, used it and then became a reseller.

Hmm thats strange...looking at the file date stamp on the CD says : 23/04/2003. It look like you have the older version.

The one I have its Infomap Navigator Build Date 5 2003 1.2.16

I thought the previous version was 7.0? and didnt have voice navigations. I bought the latest version cause I heard the 7.0 is very good and people in another forum was excited about this new "navigation" feature. A new feature in infomap which happen to be a let down. I saw lots of problem with it, I can go on and on but rather not. I must say the POI seach is very good on it though.

Am I wrong here?

I must have tested about 7 map/nav sofware so far, and the thought of people paying lots of money for something like powerloc destinator, then feeling ripped off is not good. But hey destinator is good...well its better be good anyway considering its asking price.

I still rate tomtom navigator 2 which happen to be only for PDA. It has all the useful little functions that the PC has missed out. Such as 3D map, rotating map, auto zoom, it remember your last heading, wont ask you to do a U-turn so much, will reroute such that its safe for you, reroute very fast...and so on. I just thought thats how a PC based software should be but much much better.

I havent seen Copilot so I cant compare it, I guess they only make it for US? Its supposed to be the best too.

The new Alturion GPS Pro 5.0 is looking good, Ill check it out in real situations, only europe map though.

I'm using Navigator Europe and can't really fault the navigation mode at all. It took me a while to get to grips with it. Now all I do is search for the address. Right click on the entry in the list, choose routing, set navigation destination. You then get the large panel come up and you click start navigation. That's it. What is it you don't like about the navigation mode?
