GPS nav + low end carputer?

Im working on my first carputer, and im wondering if its going to be able to do GPS at some point down the road...

P266mhz w/ MMX
32MB RAM (trying to find EDO SODIMM to upgrade)
5.6" lcd

Will I run into super slow updates? Long map change times? Anything like that?

Yes, its will be very slow on your setup. I have run autoroute on a P2 350Mhz with 64MB RAM.

It will help if you lower your resolution down to 640x480, low colour and low details.

The LCD runs at 300x200 ish (a bit higher cant remember exact res).

I dont really need much, would that computer be enough for giving me directions? Ie turn left on 128 st, etc etc.

I dont really need it to show me on a map where I am, all the time.

Minimum windows resolutions should be 640x480. Only if I can run most software at 320x240 ill be over the moon...will also solve having to buy those expensive VGA monitor

I think the best thing is to actually try the software and see how well it copes. You can download some navigation softwares such as powerloc destinator and just run the demo built in.
