GPS Software?

Could someone point me to a link to download a free copy of some sort of GPS with voice recognition? Ive searched the forums, and the web, but could not find a link anywhere.
Thanks in advance.

You can get gpsdrive for linux, and some others, but they don't include navigation. As far as I know the only ones that do navigation are for windows (or pocket pc), and are not free. The vector data required to perform navigation costs from the GIS agencies, so the software simply cannot be free!

the most that any free application can give u is data that's either sent by GPS devices. this is basically just your position, speed, altitude, maybe bearing. anything else requires a big database of maps and those don't come cheap. GPSdrive supports it but u have to download the maps from expedia and align the maps yourself. voice navigation isn't that hard to code but without actual street names and all that data, it'd be hard

for windows, if you don't mind using an older version, street atlas 4.0 is avail on ebay for like 20 or 30 bucks. that's like a couple of years old but most streets should still be same. i'm gonna be ditching my street atlas for topo usa 4.0 3d rendered gps navigtaion haahha i'm gonna kill myself :P

This is kind of a neat program...seems like a steep learning curve (to me) but a lot of potential if you want to invest the time into it...you will have to read the site, and try the software to see what I mean.

EDIT: sorry I believe this software only talks to you, I don't think it has voice recognition.

"Where are my drivers ? .... There they are !"

does this mean that we could use this as a tracking device if the car gets jacked?

The writer of the free software also has some commercial stuff like you describe: To track their vehicles.

The free software is only a moving map type thing, I don't know how many features it does have. (too much pain in setting it up with local maps)
