Are you sure it's not your CD-rom? If the disc is visibly damaged I'm sure you could get a new one if you contact ALK's customer support.

it's not scratched, nothing. They burn their CD's on very cheap CDr's ( kinda greenish in color) and probably at very high speed. Alk don't answer calls, only leave voice messages. Emaied them 2 days ago and so far no response. I am starting to get really ****ed now

Gork ALK distributes Copilot software on CDRs.They are smart for doing this. That means after you bought it, you cant sell it on ebay according to ebay policy.

Do you think that would really stop people from selling it on ebay though?

Of course not. I dont think ALK checks ebay nor inform ebay of its software being on a CDR. I've seen CP software on ebay quite often.
SinnerG, I think it only applies to software only not the whole package.

I looked at Ebays webpage and it said that Writable media is possibly against Ebays rules. Copilot falls under the legal use of selling writable media. A CD full of MP3's would not ^_^

So I've mucked about with Copilot live now, and I'm ready to give a review.
The software does require activation. I'm not really pleased about that, but I'll deal with it. The maps are somewhat smaller, but I'm not really bothered by it. They now also offer a female voice. Unfortunately, the voice is nearly uninteligable.
The live function seems like a last minute addition. There is very little documentation about it in the manuals, but from what I've gathered it allows for a third party to track where you are from the internet, as well as allows for 2 way messaging. There also seems to be a way to get live traffic reporting to allow for more intelligent route and detour selection. Unfortunately I've not been able to turn this on yet, for whatever reason. I will check the documentation some more tonight and post another update.
The live functons of course, require a live internet connection. When I find someone to help me test the live functions I will post a review of that too.

Direct quote from Ebay help
"Do not list CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, or any other forms of recordable media on eBay unless they are blank.
If you are the copyright owner of the material you are offering on CD-R or DVD-R, make sure you say so in your listing!
Note:
A local band decides to release its latest album on CD-R. The band may list the album on eBay so long as it is clear from the listing that the band is the copyright owner.
A buyer purchases an album on eBay that was released by a local band on CD-R. The buyer may not list the album on eBay, even though the band released the album on CD-R, because it violates eBay's Recordable Media policy."
In this case Copilot's being the band. They're the copyright owner. They're allowed to sell their software on a CD-R on ebay. Once it's sold, the buyer can't turn around and re-sell Copilot on ebay again. But who cares I've seen ALOT of used Copilot software only on ebay.
One question though, how do you activate Copilot Live?

the 1st shot is what it originally looked like out of the box. the 2nd is what it looks like now. this is what copilot should look like on a 7" widescreen monitor. less buttons. more map.
