Destinator 3!!
As I've seen browsing PowerLoc webpage, Destinator 3 have already been launched. Pocket PC version review is avaiable. From the screenshots, I think it's more clear, like tom-tom with POIs showed on the map an all of that... have anyone of you heard about Destinator 3? I've just emailed them about PC version and SDK info for this new version.

I'm hoping for an SDK and more info as well. Their website is pretty sparse. Did they write you back yet about the SDK?

I'm gonna email them today regarding the SDK also, if more people email them about it, then they'll see that lots of people want it, so will hopefully push it out a little quicker

I bought Destinator 2 with all the North America Maps even after D3 came out because I used the D2 SDK in my software. It was a real ***** finding D2, but I did. I'm going to order the D3 SDK soon to see what the differences are. I REALLY hope they don't put out another one just as I finish integrating D3.

Magnezium, have you asked powerloc about SDK v3?? I mailed them about v3, and this is what I got:
Quote:
Hi,
Destinator 3 SDk will be released in spring 2004. Please, check our site for updates.
There might be earlier releases with limited functionality.
Regards,
Alex
So it appears we wouldn't have v3 for a while...

Damn. That sux. Powerloc doesn't understand marketing. Why put out a product SDK later when they could start making money immediately?

Just a warning before anyone upgrades; D3 contains a new online product activation that ties the software to A SINGLE COMPUTER like Win XP's product activation. If like me you have multiple hardware, or are still setting up you system and don't know what the final hardware will be, product activation will make your life very hard. You need to contact Powerloc to get a new activation code if you move hardware and the old one will be deactivated, which can take several days.

What you do is take enter your serial number into the software, it gives you a device id, and you enter both your serial # and the device id on the Destinator website which then gives you an activation code to activate the software. Once your serial # is linked with one machine, the only way to get a new activation code for a different machine is to manually contact Powerloc and have the first deactivated.

This does not make any sense to me. I understand the whole activation scheme, but how can they deactivate the software on a machine that is already running it?

It's possible that they ask you to run an un-installation programm that returns a code, they ask for, and then give you a new code...

Not likely. Not even Microsoft is that arrogant. What if your hard drive crashed or your system went up in smoke prompting you to buy a new system? It's not logistically possible.
