The new CoPilot will work with any more GPS's and it is awesome, but it is $250. I have a freind who swears by MS Streets.

Older versions of copilot can be fooled into using any GPS unit with programmable output. If anyone wants to know how, I'll post the info on it again.

The people here at GPSPassion.com have a section dedicated to iGuidance. They love it! http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/d....asp?CAT_ID=12
They have specifically compared it to Delorme's stuff and declared it crap. Makes me want to try it anyway...

Street atlas 2003 is okay. The one major flaw I dont like is that it sometimes it does not diplay the street name when you appraoch the street. Like at the intersection. It's kinda a drag when your GPS does not show you what street you are on. I heard that the street atlas 2004 they correct this problem. Isn't copillot only used on the handheld devices and not windows?

Actually, Copilot is for both Windows and the Pocket PC.

Cheers,

Software

Personally, I use MS Streets & Trips 2004 w/my Earthmate USB. It needs some updating (doesn't have the latest street names/redesignations since my home town moved the city limits, or the college I go to), but it does most of what I ask it to.

Later.

I've seen this also. Is anyone on this forum using iGuidance? It seems that everybody that would ask off another brand of gps the moderaters on that forum would butcher what ever it is if it is not iGuidance. It looks okay but I've only seen the pocket PC ver.

I have both Delorme and MS S&T 2004. I like Delorme because of all the info it shows like speed and I like the arrow instead of just the car MS uses. I like MS thought because I can get a big easy to read map without much other stuff on the screen.

I'd love to get copilot but with a new baby at home I can't afford $250 for it. Are any of you running the newest version that just came out this month?

Does anyone know if you can get more info out of MS like speed? I don't see any real gps options in it.

There's an addon you can get called AGPS (I think?) or something like that that goes on top of MS S&T. It apparently makes it more gps friendly.

http://www.techgt.com/AGPS/

Supposedly it's really great.
A friend of mine swears by it. He says he finds the MS map software a waste of time by itself, but with AGPS, it's actually useful. It gives speed, heading, time etc. He says it's one of the only pieces of software he's been happy paying for.

(I haven't used either S&T or AGPS myself, just going by what he says.

(Edit: Supposedly, AGPS works only with Mappoint, from what I can tell. I don't remember what software he's running.)

Though I am interested, is Copilot worth the money? I'd like small buttons, so there's more room for the map. Also, what does or doesn't work in Canada? All the major mapping software works in Canada? (I'm sure I could search, but since this thread is about mapping....)

Regards,

Kris

Hay Brodee, Which one has a more detailed map as far as diplaying street name points of interest (ATM's, gas stations, Resurants etc...). Are you using delorme gps receiver?

I was curious, did you have to do anything special with your setup to get the Delorme to work with Streets and Trips 2004? I heard that the Earthmate isnt NMEA compatible or whatever, which allows it not to be used with certain software.

Does anyone know if this is an issue with Earthmate and S & T 2004?

thanks

First off, do you have the serial or USB version? There is a BIG difference in compatibility w/ software. If it is USB I highly suggest iGuidance/Routis.
