Alturion and demo mode

I just got Alturion Pro version 5.0. I'm trying to find a way to run in demonstration mode, so that i can hear the voice-guidance and see what it will look like on the road.

The GPS-receiver has not arrived yet and i don't own a Pocket PC.

My question is:
"Is there a possibility to test-run a route in Alturion on a notebook without a GPS-receiver and without a PDA?"

BTW. I _have_ searched this forum, before i wrote started this thread.

No theres no demo mode in alturion.

Yes you can run alturion on laptop without PDA Infact the PDA version of alturion is much nicer than the laptop...its very simple, and it have a big indicator telling you which way to go...the laptop dont have all that. The laptop/desktop version is just supposed to organise your route and then you upload to your PDA

The voice is not as clear as the tomtom though. I must say the graphics on it is probably the best so far. The rerouting is quite good too. I dont like the search that much though...the mappoint or autoroute searches much better

Tell me how it goes as ive only tested mine once

Thx for the info Ricky.

Here's my update: My first IPAQ is now at customs (to be cleared) and the EPIA M10000 motherboard has arrived, so i can slowly start assembling things, FINALLY.

I bought the Ipaq since the add-ons for TomTom is incredible, i'll try both Alturion & TomTom thought once the pda arrives. Using the PC for large maps and mp3's sounds great, but still thinking of linking an ipod directly to the ipaq

Will keep you posted.

Question Error when starting Alturion

I installed Alturion on my pc yesterday.
When it starts up it gives two error messages and then shuts down.
The first message is about my video card not supporting directx9 (wich I doubt, it's a SIS 651 chipset) and switching to sofware mode. I can live with software mode...
The next message is : "Unable to create empty document" and then it just shuts down.
I have been looking where and what document it is trying to create, but I can't figure it out. Can someone tell me in what directory alturion puts it's files, maybe it is a permission problem.

I get the impression when reading this thread that alturion isn't meant for use on a laptop for navigation anyway.
Can it be used in the car with routing including voice instructions, or is that a feature only for the pda version?

Greets,

Dries

By default it uses : C:\Program Files\Alturion\Alturion GPS Professional

Check the logfile.txt this tell you more.

What version are you using? V5.2 update is out and it comes with benelux maps.

The desktop version can be used for navigations. It does have the routing and voice navigations. The only thing I noticed is it doesnt have the arrow which point to the road to take next. You can also customised it so theres less button.

Ver 6.0 should be out very soon I heard

Bad drivers (my mistake)

The problem is fixed.
I used the drivers that came with the hardware, then I dowloaded those from the asus website.
They all diddn't work.
But when I tried those from sis.com, all went smoothly.

This makes me even more impatient in waiting for my xenarc touch screen
