i use Rand Mcnally "mouse" (since it's the cheapest by that time, 1999), serial port plus custom software since street finder, the cd comes with the RM is only US version. this mouse is tried 'n tested (by me!) using diff. software 'n boy it rocks! i bought it on RM store Online, couldn't find it anywhere but when i openned the device, it's made in NZ.

I bought a no-name USB GPS "mouse" from ebay ~2months ago for AUD$100. Bargain. Works with all NMEA software (everything).
I use Oziexplorer with the Sydway/Melway maps. It's only moving map functionality, not routing/directions, but it's still OK.

actually i am using the trial version of Ozi. It has some limitations, like only running for 1 hour max, but it's OK for my purposes (and free )

has anyone tried http://www.ospreycomputing.com.au

looks very nice, but pricey at $250 per state... and i'd need 2 states, plus receiver.... really too much to spend!

ozi explorer doesn't have routing does it? it's really down to navigator or destinator i think? both very expensive! we need a cost effective solution...
